Opened in October 2017, A Perfect Something is a small online boutique shop specializing in watercolor products and services. We sell art products with a range of geometric and abstract styles but never stray too far from our foundation of clean lines and beautiful color palettes.
Drop us a line if you ever have any questions or have anything you want to see in the shop in the future—we love hearing from you!
Hi! I'm Carrie, the artist behind A Perfect Something. In short, I'm a math-loving, color-obsessed, proud perfectionist, which explains all the calculated geometric art you see in this shop. I love making clean lines and spending hours deciding on color palettes.
I started my @aperfectsomething Instagram account in September 2015 as a way to share my progress and journey in my new-found hobby: calligraphy and brush lettering. I started playing around with watercolor early on with my lettering and quickly got hooked... and pretty soon I was painting more shapes than I was letters! After finishing the 100 day project in August 2017, I knew I wanted to focus on geometric and abstract watercolor, and this shop was born. I hope to branch out into other watercolor painting styles but for now am quite content painting precise shapes and lines.
Some other random facts about me:
— I am a proud Canadian, though I have lived in the US since 2006.
— I lived in San Francisco for 8 years before relocating to Dallas in 2016. I've switched my hoodies and leggings for tank tops and shorts.
— I am obsessed with keeping my studio and kitchen areas clean, but have no problems keeping the rest of our home messy.
— My favorite foods (you can't talk to me without me mentioning food at least once): noodles (all kinds), fried chicken, bread, ketchup chips, lasagna (I guess that's kind of a noodle?), cheese, sushi, dumplings, chocolate cake, kale (I promise I like a lot of other healthy foods too despite this list)...
— Some other interests of mine aside from painting: cooking (... and eating!), traveling, playing piano, board game nights, binge watching TV, rearranging my workspace, procrastinating, lots of whitespace and bright natural light, reading, and napping.
I don't know where this whole painting journey will take me, but thank you for stopping by, and I hope you continue to enjoy my work as I continue to enjoy making it! Thank you for supporting small businesses. ♡
