How to use journal prompt stickers: minimalist edition (pen and paper only!)

|Carrie Chan

On days where you want to write in your journal, but don't know where to start, journal prompt stickers can be an easy and fun way to kick start your pages!

Here, I share three different ways you can use journal prompt stickers (or stamps, if you have those) with just your journal and your favorite pens/markers/writing utensils. Nothing too fancy here, just some simple ways to get pen on paper!

1. Simple Lists

Nothing beats the simplicity of using lists. A simple "Top 3 Highlights" with a bulleted list underneath can have you finished journaling about your day in no time. The stickers add some structure and style to your page, but you can just as easily recreate this with your own handwritten or stamped headers.

2. Use journal prompt stickers as paragraph headers

Look through the journal prompt stickers, and pick out a few that reminded you of the day. Not only does this let you structure the page easily, it also forces you to think back about your day to remember maybe smaller moments that you forgot happened but want to write about!

Pens: Pilot Explorer fountain pen with <EF> nib, Sailor Shikiori Marker
Stickers: Journal Prompt Stickers: Daily Highlights, Highlighter Style in Rainbow Typewriter, transparent matte, and 2026 Date Stickers: Micro Typewriter Stamp

3. Journal prompt stickers as box headings

Sometimes a few boxes can go a long way. Here, I divided the page into quadrants and chose 4 different journal prompt stickers that made me think of events that happened that day. I stuck the stickers on, then drew some boxes in roughly matching colors (just freehanded them, you don't even need a ruler!), and wrote about each event inside the boxes.

Grids are always helpful to give structure to the page, and makes the pages look a little more organized!

And that's it! These ideas may seem simple but sometimes when your brain is stuck on a blank page, simple is what you need. Lists, grids, and easy headers... they always work to get your thoughts down on paper in an easy, approachable way.
