About Us

A Perfect Something (in its current stationery iteration!) launched in 2026 as the start of my lifelong dream to create modern, functional, and beautiful stationery products and share them with fellow journalers, planners, and memory keepers.

I have backgrounds in both design and fine art, so I hope that I’m able to add a unique touch and good design to everything I make. I love experimenting with different styles, so I hope there will be a little something for everyone in the things I design!

My goal for this shop is for my products to inspire people to start or continue finding joys in their own passions in life, and to expand the creativity of analog memory keeping and planning in a beautiful, modern, and fun way ♡

If you ever have any product suggestions, or questions, feel free to reach out at store@aperfectsomething.com!

About Carrie

Instead of writing a bio, here are some things I love in no particular order:

  • the excitement of opening a new board game and learning all the rules
  • taking the first sip of an ice cold lightly caffeinated drink before I start work
  • the endorphins after finishing a hard workout that I forced myself to go to because I booked the class in advance and didn’t want to pay a late-cancel fee and knew I’d end up feeling great if I just went and did it
  • the feeling of a buttery smooth pen on buttery smooth paper… but equally, the feeling of pencil feedback on some toothy paper
  • the look my dog gives and the paw he extends to poke me when I have the audacity to stop scratching or petting him
  • being on the edge of my seat in a thrilling final set tie break in a tennis match, or the last 5 minutes of a tied Olympic hockey game
  • seeing people who love what they do show off their talents and their love for their chosen thing
  • getting into a freshly made bed with a good book on a Friday night with the whole weekend ahead of me
  • seeing random acts of kindness on the streets of NYC (which happens more than you’d think)
  • a really good slice of pizza or bowl of any kind of noodles

ABOUT THE BRAND

The A Perfect Something brand has lived a lot of lives! It actually started in 2015 when I started a new hobby learning hand lettering and calligraphy. I wanted a place to share my progress, and the name A Perfect Something seemed like the (excuse the pun) …perfect… way to capture my progress; even though I knew when I first started I wasn’t very good, I was SO proud of everything I was making and learning and felt that what I was creating was perfect in its own way.

It was a reminder to myself and to everyone I was sharing with that the idea of perfection could be imperfect and different for everyone. That something could be perfect to me, but not to someone else, but that there is always a perfect something for everyone.

Over the next few years I also picked up watercolor painting as a hobby and quickly fell into a style and technique that I found really fun. I started my first online shop selling my paintings and prints under the A Perfect Something brand, and had the best time starting this small art venture of mine.

In 2019 I retired the A Perfect Something brand as I had switched over to using my own name to gain more credibility in the fine art world.

In 2025 after a very tumultuous year, I finally took the plunge to chase a lifelong dream to be involved in the stationery world. It seemed fitting to bring the A Perfect Something brand name out of retirement and give it a new life for a business that was born purely out of my own longtime passion. I can't wait to see where this iteration of the brand takes me and this stationery dream of mine!
